Area Chamber of Commerce
Established
in 1925, the Auburn Area
Chamber of Commerce has been
serving the communities of
Auburn, Algona, Pacific and
unincorporated south King
County for 82 years. The
Chamber is a private,
not-for-profit,
member-supported,
volunteer-led organization.
Our primary purpose is to
focus and direct the
resources of the business
community to maintain and
expand commerce in our
region. The Chamber has
550-plus business partners
and is governed by a
21-member Board of
Directors. The
professional staff consists
of three full-time, one
part-time employee and three
contractors who
carry out the program of
work as established by the
Board.
Programs and Services
The Auburn Area Chamber of
Commerce, in partnership
with Green River Community
College and the Small
Business Administration
established the Regional
Enterprise Center in 2001.
This full-service business
resource facility houses the
Chamber's office, Visitor
Information Center, economic
development programs,
Leadership Institute of
South Puget Sound,
Educational Foundation, and
meeting space for community
groups. Come in and

Leadership
Institute of South Puget
Sound Organized
and managed by the Chamber,
the Leadership Institute is
a rigorous, nine-month,
92-hour quality adult
leadership development
school designed to prepare
emerging civic and business
leaders for future
leadership positions in
their career and/or
community. Established
in 1998, the school has
graduated over 200
individuals from diverse
backgrounds who now serve in
various capacities within
their communities.
Governed by a regional Board
of Regents, this program
serves the leadership
development needs of the
Auburn, Kent, Renton,
Tukwila, southern King
County and northern Pierce
County regions. Want

Auburn Area Career
Conference
This annual event matches
over 300 area high school
juniors and seniors with 50
regional employers for a day
of real and practice job
interviews and career
counseling.
Motivational speakers and
informational break out
sessions regarding career
opportunities round out the
event. Now in its
ninth year, this program,
serving six area high
schools from three school
districts, has received
kudos for the opportunity it
affords both students and
businesses alike.
Government
Affairs Annual
programs include Chamber Day
in Olympia; the South Sound
Chamber Coalition (a
business advocacy group);
the development of
Legislative/Business
agendas; issue management;
E-mail alerts; and other
efforts directed at
maintaining a
business-friendly
environment in the state.
Also includes partnerships
with the city and county to
establish the vital
infrastructure needed to
retain, attract, and grow
business in the greater
Auburn area.
Community
Marketing The
Chamber and City of Auburn
work together to attract new
investment in Auburn, and
our economic development
efforts have paid off.
During the last decade
residential growth was up
21.8 percent, 500-plus new
businesses opened, and 7,595
new jobs were created.
Tourism
Marketing
Currently the Chamber is
leading our lodging,
restaurant and entertainment
businesses to serve on the
City's Tourism Board.
These efforts include the
establishment of a local
room tax to fund future
programs; the publishing of
Auburn's first tourism and
visitors' guide; web page
and newspaper advertising,
and a Visitor's Information
Center at the Chamber's new
Enterprise Center and
office.
